Large Hand-Painted Buffalo Rawhide Parfleche Envelope (Sioux Style)
$U150,00
Large Hand-Painted Buffalo Rawhide Parfleche Envelope | Sioux Style | Estate Find | Native American-Inspired | Rendezvous, Camp Gear, Wall Hanging This is a large, authentic buffalo rawhide Parfleche envelope — thick, rugged, and full of character. It was originally Sioux-made and came to me as an undecorated piece. I hand-painted the traditional-style design using earth pigments, including some I made myself from natural minerals in New Mexico. I replaced the fringe with tanned elk hide, cut to 24"" lengths and tied securely along both sides. Two rawhide thongs are attached at the top for easy hanging in a lodge, cabin, or display area. Provenance Purchased from a private estate in upstate New York, this piece came from the collection of a 20th-century anthropologist who specialized in Native American artifacts. Condition Excellent estate-discovery condition. The leather is still supple and malleable. The bag is fully functional, with all fringe intact and the beadwork undamaged — bright, vibrant, and complete. This Parfleche is ideal for: Rendezvous or primitive camp gear Wall art or lodge decor Living history setups Collectors of Native American-style pieces Size: Large 19 1/2"" wide X 12"" tall Material: Buffalo rawhide, elk hide fringe
